So, I’ve been spinning again lately and have some yarn to show off.

Here we have a 2-ply lace weight blue-faced leicester wool in the “As Above So Below” colourway from Crown Mountain Farms. I very much enjoyed both the colours and the wool while spinning this yarn. It has more crimp than merino so it ‘sticks’ together better as you’re spinning.

The second yarn is a 2-ply DK weight superwash merino, again from Crown Mountain Farms. This time in the “We Are The Champions” colourway. I chose this one partly because it was a Queen song and partly because I was intrigued at fibre that used both reds and greens exclusively without them bleeding together into grey tones.

This third yarn is again a 2-ply lace weight yarn, spun with mohair from Wellington Fibres in Elora. The fibre was an impulse buy when I went to tour their mill a few years ago, but I was intrigued by the colour and still am. This yarn was spun on a featherweight spindle while in class, on the bus, and in general walking about town. There would be a lot more of it but my spindle sadly broke in half, so I plied what I had on my other spindle to salvage it.

I’m currently working on spinning a pale green merino/silk blend I bought while I was living in London.
